FL Fire/Medic Injured as Passing Vehicle Strikes Ambulance

A Brevard County Fire Rescue paramedic suffered minor injuries after his ambulance was struck by a passing vehicle in Melbourne over the weekend.
Rescue 82 was parked on Fee Avenue during a medical response when the firefighter opened the side door to exit the vehicle.
A passing vehicle struck the ambulance door, which the hit the firefighter fire in the head and shattered the glass, according to Brevard County Fire Rescue officials.
The medic received more than a dozen stitches for a head injury and also suffered bruising.
"Another reminder that a simple EMS call can be dangerous," the department said in a statement on Facebook. "Luckily, the paramedic only received some sutures and a bruised head."
