While responding to an emergency call, a Trenton firefighter fell out of the cab of an engine and was seriously hurt.
According to the website NJ.com, the firefighter, who was not named, apparently flew out of the apparatus as it rounded a curve.
The injured firefighter was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton where he was being treated for his injuries on Monday night. He is expected to make a full recovery, according to the website report.
Trenton fire officers’ union president, Steve Coltre told the website that Engine 9 was responding to a fire call in the West Ward when the incident happened.
He said it must have been a freak accident because the apparatus has a closed cab and the doors should have closed securely. The web site said it is not known if the injured firefighter was wearing a safety belt and the incident is under investigation.
