Ten people were hurt in three-vehicle crash that involved a fire truck responding to a fire in Queens.

According to NBC 4 New York, a Fire Department of New York (FDNY) truck was responding to a high-rise fire when it hit a Lexus SUV in Flushing which then ricocheted into a Mercedes SUV near Kissena Park. The apparatus was about five minutes away from the fire when the collision occurred at about 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

The television station reported a child was in serious condition after the crash that sent seven people to the hospital and left one adult in serious condition. A firefighter and two others suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene, the television station reported.

Witnesses say they heard sirens and then a crash, followed by a second crash, the station reported, added that people saw fire personnel and apparatus rushing to those hurt in the crash.

The apparatus was responding to a report of a fire on the ninth floor in a 25-story building a few blocks from the crash site, the station reported.
