Sept. 24--A Cypress man lit his home on fire on Sunday after deputies responded to a request for medical aid, officials said.

Jack Crisanto, who lives at the home with his father, said his brother ignited the blaze.

"It's toasted," Crisanto said of the home.

Deputies responded to a call from the home on the 4300 block of Garnet Avenue at 7:42 a.m.

Crisanto declined to give his brother's name, but said his brother had approached his father with a screwdriver before the family called police. Cristano said his brother has multiple restraining orders preventing him from being near the home. Cypress Police Sgt. Dean Pinvidic on Sunday confirmed the man had one restraining order.

"We responded and the subject wouldn't come to the door," Sgt. Matthew Timney said. "He then lit the house on fire."

No deputies who responded to the call were injured during the blaze, Timney said.

Four fire engines were dispatched to the home and described the damage as a "fairly complete burn," Timney said.

"I don't think anybody is going to be living there for a while," Timney said.

Timney said the man had minor injuries and was being treated for possible smoke inhalation at UC Irvine Medical Center.
