This month on Fire Marshal’s Corner host Ed Comeau looks at the landmark Vision 20/20 efforts.
Ed talks with project manager Jim Crawford, fire marshal for Vancouver, WA. Jim has been the driving force behind the project from its genesis in 2006 when he brought together an informal group of noted national experts in Florida. From this beginning, Vision 20/20 has grown to the point where it is an important part of helping to develop a national strategic agenda for fire and loss prevention.
Ed also talks with Assistant Chief Frank Blackely.
Blackely has been working closely on one of the five strategies to identify views and perceptions towards fire prevention in the fire service, predominantly at the recruit level. He will share the findings from an online survey that was conducted.
Also joining Ed is Mike Rupert, public information officer with the District of Columbia Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs. Mike is heavily involved in using social media in his work and has taken it to a new level with sites such as “This Should Be Illegal” and has been instrumental in helping with the new Twitter campaign for National Campus Fire Safety Month. Mike discusses how to use social media in helping to deliver fire safety messages to today’s Internet Generation.
