Firehouse.com talks with Larry Sagen, the author of "Recruiting & Retaining Diversity" published in the September 2008 issue of Firehouse Magazine. Larry serves as the Executive Director of FIRE 20/20, an organization dedicated to helping recruit and retain qualified and diverse personnel for departments, as the make up of communities are constantly changing.
Larry talks about the research that has been conducted by FIRE 20/20 to increase department's recruitment and retention efforts with diverse people. For the article, Larry interviewed six fire service leaders to get their take on what they believe are some important fundamentals of working with multiple cultures.
