Las Vegas PIO Awarded by Nevada Broadcasters Group

Las Vegas Fire & Rescue Fire-Public Information Officer Timothy R. Szymanski was awarded the Community Achievement Award from the Nevada Broadcasters Association on Saturday night during the 2008 Broadcasters Hall of Fame Gala held at the Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa. He was one of four individuals who were singled out for special awards.

The award recognized his 25 years of work as a public information officer assisting the media and public with information about the fire service and safety. He was recognized for his "Love for his Profession, Passion for the safety of his Community." The Association further stated, "From a grateful Broadcasting Industry--for the partnerships established, the communication provided and the education created."

The award was presented by Bob Fisher, President and CEO of the Nevada Broadcasters Association and Nevada Governor Jim Gibbons.

The other recipients of special awards included Alice A. Molasky-Arman--Nevada Insurance Commissioner received a Community Achievement Award and Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented to DeAnne Sheehan of Lotus Broadcasting and Bob Stodal who recently retired after 36 years with KLAS-TV Channel 8.

This is the second time in the past two years that a member of Las Vegas Fire & Rescue has been recognized with a special award during the NBA Hall of Fame Gala. In 2006 Brian Willett , also of the Office of Public Information and Education, was recognized for over 30 years of service to the community and the country.
