NICHOLS HILLS, Okla. --

The Nichols Hills Fire Department has appointed a new chief one week after its former chief was shot and killed.

Sources confirmed early Thursday that Assistant Fire Chief Terry Hamilton had been promoted to chief. In a recent interview with Eyewitness News 5, Hamilton said he had worked at the Nichols Hills Fire Department for more than 30 years.

During that time, Hamilton worked closely with former Fire Chief Keith Bryan. Bryan died last week after being shot inside his Mustang home. Bryan's wife, Becky, was arrested in connection with his death. Investigators said Becky Bryan shot her husband, then hid the gun in a clothes dryer.

Prosecutors said Becky Bryan will appear before a Canadian County judge on Thursday. It's expected formal charges will be presented.
