CINCINNATI --

Local fire crews are trying to get improvements made to a memorial for fallen firefighters.

Currently, there is a small memorial across from the Duke Energy Convention Center.

However, firefighters said it's barely big enough for them to hold their services.

"When we have our firefighters memorial, we have chairs here with widows and family members and by the time we get the rank and file guys here and the city council and the mayor here; we're out in the street," firefighter Scott Schenkel said.

Organizers will be selling memorial pavers and requesting grant money and corporate donations for money to build a park.

The city of Cincinnati has donated unused land adjacent to the current memorial for the expansion.
