MANCHESTER, Conn. --

A man turned himself in to police Friday on charges he stole copper pipe from the construction site of the new firehouse in South Windsor.

Jeremy Emery, 23, of Manchester, was charged with burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, larceny and conspiracy to commit larceny.

He is accused of stealing copper pipe, totaling 450 pounds, from the new firehouse construction site on Sullivan Avenue. He is also accused of taking a 9-pound brass fire hose connector.

Police said the theft occurred on Feb. 24. South Windsor police said an investigation revealed that the stolen material was found at Miller Recycling in Hartford. They used the scrap metal payment receipts and video surveillance footage to identify Emery and Michael Millette. Arrest warrants were obtained for both men. Millette surrendered to police on March 4.
