The notice, provided by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security is intended to provide guidelines for the 2007 Assistance to Firefighters Grant program year.

In addition, the notice describes the application process for grants and the criteria for awarding grants, as well as an explanation for any differences compared with previous guidelines.

The changes were complied by the DHS from recommendations made by representatives of the nation's fire service during the annual criteria development meeting held Nov. 1 to Nov. 2, 2006.
