NFPA, Joey Gase and NASCAR Team Up for 2026
During some NASCAR race events in 2026, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) will resume its partnership with Joey Gase Motorsports and Scott Osteen. The NFPA will use the sport's national platform to raise public awareness of the significance of fire safety and the critical role codes and standards play in protecting people and property.
NFPA will be the entitlement sponsor of the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series race at Martinsville Speedway during the spring race weekend as part of its increased NASCAR commitment. The NFPA 250 will take place on March 28 at 3 p.m. in support of the organization's codes and standards campaign, "Safety Doesn't Happen by ChanceTM," which aims to draw attention to vital systems that contribute to people's safety at home, at work, and in their communities.
In honor of Fire Prevention Week, which begins on Oct. 4, 2026, Gase will take the wheel during the NFPA 250 and return to the track with NFPA on Oct. 10 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
“NASCAR has always placed safety at the forefront, both for competitors on the track and the fans who attend its races,” said NFPA vice president of Outreach and Advocacy Lorraine Carli. “This collaboration reflects the NFPA mission to protect people and property from fire and other hazards. With our sponsorship of the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series NFPA 250, and our continuing work with Joey Gase, we are excited to elevate national awareness about the importance of codes and standards and the role they play in safeguarding people, property, and communities.”
According to NFPA research, the majority of Americans are unsure of who creates safety codes and frequently believe that government organizations do. In actuality, industry experts collaborate with private, independent standards development groups like NFPA to generate safety guidelines. Because of this knowledge gap, the system is susceptible to groups and sectors that seek to weaken it. According to the same study, people strongly support maintaining and bolstering our nation's safety system once they comprehend how it actually functions.
“Fire safety has always been personal to me, and being able to use the track as a platform to raise awareness makes this work even more meaningful,” said Joey Gase. “Safety starts at home, and getting the chance to highlight that message is something I’m proud of. Every family deserves to know the risks of fire and the actionable steps they can take to prevent it, and they should also know about the standards that support safety in our communities. Teaming up with NFPA for the NFPA 250 and in Charlotte during Fire Prevention Week helps us bring this important information to millions of people.”
The oldest public health event in American history, Fire Prevention Week is observed nationwide every October. Fire Prevention Week has been promoting awareness of the dangers of home fires and strategies to reduce them for over a century. Every year, local fire departments, schools, and community organizations are crucial in bringing Fire Prevention Week to life in their areas and disseminating fundamental yet important fire safety teachings.

About Joey Gase Motorsports with Scott Osteen
Aside from his busy racing schedule, Joey Gase finds time to support numerous charities and non-profit organizations. Gase has a personal connection that links his desire to help those in need. At the young age of 18, Gase tragically lost his mother, Mary, to a sudden brain aneurysm. Faced with a difficult decision, Gase and his family decided to donate his mother’s organs. Later they learned that her gift helped save and improve the lives of 66 people. Gase developed a desire and passion for educating others on the need for organ, tissue, and eye donation and honoring all of those affected by it. Joey’s hard work in the donation community has proven to be successful in his goals and he has received many honorable awards, including the inaugural COMCAST Community Outreach Award and AATB Communication and Education’s “The Ground Breaker” Award.
