The Fire Rescue Advisory Commission is going on hiatus until the termination process for Loveland Fire Chief Tim Sendelbach has settled, according to the group’s chairman.

The Fire Rescue Advisory Commission posted an update on LFRA’s website that stated the group was going on hiatus while working on identifying projects that align with their mission and goals.

FRAC Chairman Scott Kretschmer said that the commission, which is a citizen advisory group to the LFRA board and the fire chief, chose to place their meetings on pause until everyone involved can put their focus on new projects and initiatives.

“At this point, there is nothing to discuss or to help advise,” Kretschmer said, adding that he believed holding meetings anyway would be a waste of time for those who attend. “There aren’t any projects, so we just decided to take a few months off and let things settle down in the LFRA where we can become a valuable entity again.”

Kretschmer said that while Acting Chief Greg Ward is managing the department with only one assistant chief, that the commission doesn’t anticipate him having the bandwidth for new projects for FRAC to advise on.

Ward said he agreed with FRAC’s offer to put the meetings on pause, adding it would be one less meeting to attend and report to prepare during the busy time for him as he manages the department while Sendelbach is on leave.

“When we’re ready to provide updates to FRAC and need their assistance with our budgeting process, things like that going forward, then we will re-engage with the group,” Ward said.

Kretschmer said that in the past FRAC has assisted LFRA with input on wildfire preparedness and planning, as well as putting up-to-date information and pictures of automated external defibrillators, a device that can deliver an electric shock to reset the heart during cardiac arrest, on the emergency notification app PulsePoint.

No date was provided as to when meetings would resume, but agendas are posted in advance online, https://lfra.org/162/Fire-Rescue-Advisory-Commission.
