This month on The Leader's Toolbox, Dr. Richard B. Gasaway tackles issues that face fire officer hopefuls and some frustrated firefighters.
Chief Gasaway offers advice to a firefighter who writes in with a frustration toward his chief, who is a micro-manager. The firefighter says many members of the department feel that the chief gives too much advice and doesn't allow them to think for themselves. The chief's actions make members feeling helpless.
He also talks to a veteran firefighter who is not making the cut for promotion to lieutenant. The podcast listener says that he's been passed over twice, and the positions have been given to educated personnel. Gasaway encourages him to change his attitude.
