Portland, OR – Portland, OR-based Mackenzie, a unified, multi-disciplinary design firm announces the grand opening of its new office in Sacramento, CA. The West Coast firm, with offices in Seattle and Vancouver, Washington, has deep roots in California. Building on a foundation of two decades of work in the advanced technology and industrial sectors in the region, Mackenzie’s Sacramento office will offer a full range of design services, including architecture, interiors, civil and structural engineering, land use planning, and landscape architecture.

Associate Principal and Director of Equitable Development Jan Mason has been named to lead Mackenzie’s Sacramento office. Mason will champion the office’s growth in Northern California and its role in contributing to the vibrant regional economy, while fostering key relationships with local stakeholders, clients, and partners.

“Jan is a proven leader at Mackenzie who offers strategic vision and industryspecific expertise that will benefit both our Sacramento clients and our local team,” said Mackenzie President Dietrich Wieland. “She has developed a unique fusion of forwardthinking business acumen and community-building ethos through her leadership at the firm and as a regional community leader. I am excited for the impact she will make in Sacramento, and in Mackenzie’s strategic growth.”

Mason joined Mackenzie in 1999. As Associate Principal previously based in the firm’s Portland office, Mason has led regional strategy with a focus on equitable economic development, business development, supplier diversity, and inclusive growth in the architecture, engineering and construction industries. With experience spanning the private and public sectors, she brings a collaborative, equity-centered approach to every initiative. As former Chair of the Greater Portland Economic Development District, Mason helped shape local and statewide policy to expand opportunity for marginalized communities. A trusted leader at Mackenzie and in the business community, Mason is known for building cross-sector partnerships, uplifting women- and minority-owned businesses, and forging partnerships that drive lasting, systemic change.

“The greater Sacramento region has been an important market for Mackenzie for the past 20 years since we represent clientele who serve as large employers for the region, and I’m thrilled to play a leading role in launching our official and permanent presence in Northern California,” said Jan Mason, Mackenzie Associate Principal and Director of Equitable Development. “Mackenzie’s design capabilities and expertise have a powerful role to play in shaping the future of Sacramento's advanced tech, advanced manufacturing, semiconductor, and clean tech sectors, driving cultural and economic growth for the region.”

Mackenzie’s office is located at the Ice Blocks in the popular R Street Corridor in the vibrant Midtown Sacramento neighborhood. The office will support a variety of local projects, including several complex endeavors for confidential high-tech clients. The firm has worked extensively in the advanced technology, retail, and industrial sectors in the Sacramento area, and will continue to focus on these areas as the office expands. Mason will continue her work in advancing economic development with the Greater Sacramento Economic Council (GSEC), serving on its Competitive Council. The council is dedicated to enhancing the region's economic competitiveness and fostering strategic initiatives that drive regional growth.

“We’re excited to see Jan Mason expanding her leadership role here in the Greater Sacramento region. She’s been a strong voice on our Competitiveness Council and a champion for equitable growth, inclusive design and innovation,” said Barry Broome, President and CEO of the Greater Sacramento Economic Council. “Mackenzie is launching their official and permanent presence in Northern California, and it’s a testament to the momentum we’re seeing in the region’s economy. Their investment reinforces Sacramento’s position as a hub for advanced manufacturing, clean tech and innovative design.”
