International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) General President Edward Kelly sat down with Local 4035 member Josh Jordan of Hoover, AL to talk about his family, his love of the fire service, top priorities for his new administration and headquarters operations, and engaging rank-and-file members.
“Communication is such a pivotal tool in shaping opinion,” Kelly said. “When you think about the solidarity of our union being pivotal to its success, our ability to educate our members and help them understand—and political endorsements are a great example—we have to be able to educate our members about why we do what we do.”
Kelly also discussed the value and importance of union membership, work-life balance, future challenges for the IAFF and the labor movement, politics, the critical roles research and technology play in keeping members safe, and much more.
