Fort Worth Fire Chief Jim Davis will be stepping down at the end of the month.

Davis, who has led the department since 2018, was placed on administrative leave last month following weeks of internal unrest, WFAA reported.

The Fort Worth Firefighters Association was said to have been preparing a no-confidence vote.

The department took over EMS operations from MedStar in July.

The city said the EMS launch went smoothly, crediting Davis with making the new EMS crews feel welcome.

The city is staying tight-lipped on what exactly led to Davis hanging up his white helmet.

Davis' attorney declinded to talk to the media Friday evening.
