The chief of a fire department in Westmoreland County is facing charges after police said he stole thousands of dollars from his company’s bank account.

Matthew White, chief of the South Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department, has been charged with theft by unlawful taking, according to WPXI.

A criminal complaint says that White used the bank account to make purchases that were labeled as “donations.” He then transferred money into his own personal bank account, police said.

The complaint said he took about $178,000 from 2023 to now.

A warrant for White’s arrest has been issued, WTAE reported.
