Rehoboth Fire Chief Mark Haskell -- terminated after speaking out about a solar farm next to his property -- says he's not going to sit idly by.
The Board of Selectmen, who ousted Haskell on a 4-1 vote, said the chief violated ethics rules by identifying himself at public meetings before speaking against the farm.
The elected officials noted that the chief has a financial interest in the project because his property abuts the solar farm, WJAR reported.
Haskell told a reporter: "I have nothing to gain and nothing to lose. The project’s already built there’s nothing I could do that would render me whole as to the damage that’s already been done.”
The chief said he is concerned about the lithium batteries at the site as well as response protocols.
He added he felt the officials were out to get him.
"...We’ll find out in court.”
