Ill. Assistant Chief Dies Following Medical Call

An assistant chief with the Hindsboro Fire District died on Oct. 3 in a hospital after responding to a medical call the previous night.

An assistant chief with the Hindsboro Fire District died on Oct. 3 in a hospital after responding to a medical call the previous night, according to a department press release.

Assistant Chief Thomas Innes, 61, was pronounced dead at approximately 1:45 a.m. at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

After returning from a medical call he assisted with around 10:45 p.m. the previous night, he became ill and was transported to the hospital, where he died a few hours later.

Innes is survived by his wife, Cheryl, and four children.

Visitation will be held for Innes on Thursday, Oct. 7 at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland from noon to 8 p.m., with the family present from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Oct. 8 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at VanVoorhis Cemetery.
