Canadian Fire Chief Dies

CHATHAM-KENT, Ontario, Canada -- The Tilbury Station fire chief died after collapsing at the firehouse this morning (Dec. 3), according to the London Free Press.Chief Bob Thibert had just dispatched an aerial ladder to a fire at a mechanic shop when he collapsed on the floor of the station.He was rushed to the hospital after crews at the station began CPR. He was later pronounced dead.

Chief Bob Thibert had just dispatched an aerial ladder to a fire at a mechanic shop when he collapsed on the floor of the station.

He was rushed to the hospital after crews at the station began CPR. He was later pronounced dead.

Chatham-Kent Fire Chief Bob Crawford said firefighters have been deeply affected by Thibert's death.

"Bob was a true professional," he said in a statement obtained by the newspaper. "He was masterful at the scene of an emergency. We all want to express our profound sorrow to his wife and three children."

Funeral arrangements are pending.
