A Norfolk Airport fire captain died Oct. 6 of an apparent heart attack suffered a few days earlier.
On Oct. 3, Capt. Carl Nordwall, 56, complained of not feeling well during shift change about 8:15 a.m. He then suddenly collapsed, according to the USFA.
Treatment was administered, and he was taken to a hospital. He died on Tuesday.
He had been a firefighter at Norfolk Airport for 27 years. He also was a a life member of the Oceana Fire Department.
A funeral will be held on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 2 p.m. at the Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, Va. 23462.
