Ohio Firefighter Dies During Charity Basketball Game

The firefighter had been on duty a day earlier and responded to two calls, reports indicated.

UNIONTOWN, Ohio -- Funeral services for an Ohio firefighter, who collapsed during a charity basketball game, will be held on Friday.

James M. "Marty" Hall, 40, died May 30 during a basketball game that pitted firefighters against police officers.

He was treated at the scene immediately, and transported to Aultman Hospital where he died, according to the USFA.

Hall, a member of Greentown Vol. Fire Dept. in Uniontown, Ohio, had been on duty on May 29, and responded to two calls, reports indicated.

Hall, a captain with the Canton Fire Department, had been a member for 20 years. He also volunteered with Greentown.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Malone University, Johnson Center for Worship and Fine Arts.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the same location. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
