A Delaware Township, Ohio Firefighter Conrad Mansfield died two days after a medical emergency during a training exercise on June 10, according to the USFA.
The 40-year-old firefighter was participating in pump training when he collapsed. He was transported to the local hospital and then airlifted to a hospital in Toledo where he was placed on life support.
Mansfield died June 12. Preliminary results indicate the nature of the fatal injury was a stroke, but a final determination is pending further investigation.
Funeral Services
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Delaware Township Fire & Rescue building. The Delaware Township and Sherwood Volunteer Fire Departments will conduct at walk-through at 6 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the same location with Fire Department Chaplain Ned Speiser officiating. Interment will follow in Wiltsie Cemetery, rural Payne.
Arrangements are being handled by Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home 230 East Elm Street, Sherwood.
