A longtime New York firefighter collapsed Tuesday while assisting at a crash scene.

A longtime New York firefighter collapsed Tuesday while assisting at a crash scene, according to the USFA.

The victim was identified as Fire Police Capt. Norm Koch with the East Pembroke Fire Department.

A firefighter for the past 50 years, he was the former chief of Corfu Fire District. In addition to heading the Fire Police unit, Koch also was a commissioner of the East Pembroke Fire District.
