A New York firefighter collapsed at a fire scene Thursday morning after suffering an apparent heart attack.Kevin Townes, 54, a longtime Mount Vernon firefighter died, Fire Commissioner Noah Lighty told LoHud.com.Firefighters responded to the house fire on Lorraine Avenue about 4 a.m.The department is expected to make an announcement later this morning, according to published reports.

A 25-year fire service veteran is survived by a wife and three children.
