The Red Oak, Ala. Volunteer Fire Department is mourning the loss of a firefighter after a crash Sunday afternoon.
Dennis Cheshire was responding in a fire department tanker on May 20 when it ran off the road and overturned. No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and no other firefighters were injured.
Cheshire, who was in his late 40's, had been with the department for at least three-and-a-half years.
"He was a good man all the way around, and a dedicated firefighter," said Assistant Chief Gordon Helms.
Cheshire leaves behind his wife and two adult children.
His funeral will be held Tuesday, May 22 at Red Oak Baptist Church.
