A Michigan firefighter has succumbed to injuries incurred from being struck by a truck at an accident scene. She passed away in the hospital the morning of January 13.
Ann Arbor Fire Chief, Sam Hopkins, has confirmed that Amy Pennywitt, has died. She was on the scene of a series of car crashes on January 7. Once there, an out-of-control pickup truck struck Pennywitt from behind.
Pennywitt is only the second firefighter in Ann Arbor's history to die in the line of duty.
Visitation will be held at the Manchester United Methodist Church. The church is located at 501 Ann Arbor Street, Manchester, Michigan 48158.
Visitation times will be as follows:
Monday January 16, from 12:00 (noon) to 3:00 PM and 5:00 to 8:00 PM
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday January 17, at the Crisler Sports Arena located at 333 E. Stadium Blvd. in Ann Arbor, MI times are as follows:
Walk Through Tribute from 10:00 to 11:00 AM
Funeral Services to begin at 11:00 AM Sharp.
Funeral Procession and burial will follow immediately at Oak Grove Cemetery in Manchester.
Memorial donations may be made to the "Firefighter Amy Schnearle-Pennywitt Fund" at any TCF Bank or mailed to Local 693 at 210 E. Huron Suite C, Ann Arbor, MI 48104. If donating by check please make the check out to "Firefighter Amy Schnearle-Pennywitt Fund." The contributions will benefit the U of M Trauma Burn Center Burn Camp and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
