Kansas Firefighter Collapses and Dies

Senior firefighter Michael J. Tluscik collapsed while on duty at his fire station Wednesday.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. --

Firefighters are mourning a colleague this week.

On Wednesday morning, senior firefighter Michael J. Tluscik collapsed while on duty at his fire station.

Tluscik was taken to a local hospital but could not be revived.

Funeral arrangements are pending.

Funeral arrangements are as follows:

Wake - Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at St. Mary's/St. Anthony's Catholic Church - 615 North 7th Street Funeral Services: Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's/St. Anthony's Catholic Church

Departments wanting to send their Honor Guards are asked to contact KCKFD Honor Guard Commander Jim Abernathy at 913-209-3386 and Departments wanting to send apparatus for the funeral procession are asked to contact Assistant Chief Craig Duke at 913-573-5937 for information. Also, any other Fire Department personnel wanting to take part in the funeral services on Thursday are asked to be in uniform and at the church by 9:30 a.m.

Honor Guards - report to the church at 0800 hours (Thursday)

Apparatus for procession - contact Asst. Chief Duke (Report by 0900-location to be determined)

Fire Department personnel - report to church at 0930 hours (Thursday)
