New Mexico Captain Died in August

Firefighter had a heart attack following exertion from a spinning class.

The U.S. Fire Administration was notified recently about the on-duty death of a New Mexico firefighter that occurred in August.

Captain Nicholas Lee Yuselew, 47, of the Pueblo of Zuni Fire/EMS, collapsed at his station Aug. 16 after returning from an exercise class, according to USFA reports.

The cause of death was listed as a heart attack following exertion from a spinning class.

After being notified of Capt. Yuselew's death this past weekend, officials lowered the flag at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial to half staff in his honor.
