LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Funeral services will take place Friday at downtown's Roman Catholic cathedral for the first Los Angeles firefighter to die in the line of duty since 1998.

Jaime Foster, 25, of Palmdale was struck and killed by a fire truck Saturday after helping douse a blaze in the San Fernando Valley.

Foster, who had worked for the Los Angeles Fire Department for just three months, had spent about 15 minutes helping douse a house fire in Encino when she was struck and crushed by a truck leaving the scene. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

Services will be at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels.
