Funeral services were held Wednesday for Elkhorn City Fire Chief Jason Todd Rowe.
Rowe was killed last week when he was practicing putting snow chains on a fire truck. An inflatable jack struck him in the chest.
People came from everywhere and those who knew him say he was the kind of person that everyone wanted to be around. "Todd was a good man we worked on several occasions and he helped us a lot with the police department and helped a lot in the community," Shawn Bannach, Chief of Police.
One member of the fire department says Rowe made sure the department was involved in the community, "He was always active with Elkhorn City, we were always doing things to help the city. He was involved with all the vacation bible schools and he made sure every year we took the truck out and presented it to the kids. He really loved children."
The hometown boy grew up knowing what he wanted to be and hung around the fire station until he was old enough to become a fire fighter. From there he went on to be become fire chief 7 years ago at the age of 23.
Rowe was 30 years old.
