15-Year-Old Louisiana Volunteer Riding With Firefighter Killed in Accident

A Lafayette television station is reporting that a 15-year-old volunteer firefighter died while responding to a call when the vehicle he was in slammed into another vehicle.

Duson, La. (AP) -- A Lafayette television station is reporting that a 15-year-old volunteer firefighter died while responding to a call when the vehicle he was in slammed into another vehicle.

KLFY says the unidentified teenager died yesterday (Saturday) on state Highway 343 near Duson.

Police reports say the boy was riding along with a friend and fellow volunteer firefighter -- 21-year-old Carl J- Landry. Police say Landry lost control of his sport utility vehicle and slammed into another vehicle.

KLFY says Landry remains hospitalized with critical injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was treated for moderate injuries.
