A Los Angeles County fire captain died Tuesday morning after suffering a medical emergency while participating in fitness training.
Capt. David Bailey was leading wildland fire training with inmate firefighters at Camp 14 in Santa Clarita around 11:30 a.m. when he fell ill, according to a department news release.
He was later pronounced dead.
Bailey, 50, is survived by his wife.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
