Wildland Firefighter Dies During Test

Veteran Fire Corps Firefighter Ian Haxton, 31, died June 6 in Arizona.

A man collapsed and died just 200 yards before finishing a wildland firefighter test.

Veteran Fire Corps Firefighter Ian Haxton, 31, died despite immediate care by an EMS crew stationed at the testing site at Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge in Sasabe, Ariz.

The cause of Haxton's June 6 death has not been determined.

He was preparing for a series of prescribed burns when he died. 

Funeral arrangements are pending.
