PA Chief Dies Following Wreck Response

Willow Street Fire Company Chief Mike Reese passed away at his home after responding to an early morning vehicle wreck.

A fire chief from a small community in southeastern Pennsylvania has died after responding to a vehicle wreck.

The Willow Street Fire Company just outside Lancaster announced the passing of Fire Chief Michael Reese, who died at his home on Thursday after responding to a wreck early that morning. He was 53 years old.

The release says Chief Reese served his community for 39 years as a volunteer firefighter, EMT and fire chief. He worked for Lancaster County Wide Communications for 17 years as a dispatcher and assistant supervisor.

Reese is survived by his wife Sue and brother David, who is the deputy chief in Willow Street.

"We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of support we have received from the emergency services community and our community at this most difficult time. Thank you," company president Bob Kiesel wrote in the release.

Viewings for Chief Reese are being held Wednesday night from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Willow Street Fire Company and Thursday morning from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Willow Street Church of Christ. Funeral services begin at the church immediately after Thursday's viewing.
