A Florida firefighter died following his shift last week.
Martin County hazmat firefighter/paramedic Scott Neumann had returned home Sept. 26 after physical fitness training at Station 16 when he suffered a medical incident, according to the U.S. Fire Administration. The nature of the medical emergency hasn't been determined, the agency added.
"Scott proudly served this community for almost two decades; his life and selfless service are woven into the very fabric of the department and our community," the department stated in an online post.
Along with Martin County, Neumann had previously served with Brevard County Fire Rescue, Indian River County Fire Rescue, St. Lucie County Fire District and other surrounding agencies. He is survived by his wife and three children.
