MI Firefighter Killed in Single-Car Crash on Way to Call

Blissfield Township firefighter Joseph Todd Gallo, 34, lost control of his car Tuesday on a section of gravel road in Deerfield Township while responding to a barn fire, and the vehicle rolled over several times.

A Michigan firefighter was killed Tuesday in a car accident while responding to a call.

Blissfield Township firefighter Joseph Todd Gallo, 34, was headed to a barn that had caught fire at around 4 p.m. when the accident happened, the Daily Telegram reports. He lost control of his 2003 Chevrolet Impala along a section of gravel road in Deerfield Township, and the car rolled over several times before coming to a stop in a field.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident, and Gallo had been the only person in the car. He wasn't wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.

The Lenawee County Accident Investigation Team is looking into the accident. The Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office, the Adrian Township Police Department and the Deerfield Fire Department all responded to the incident.
