IN Volunteer Firefighter Dies from Medical Emergency

After responding to an emergency call Sunday, Harrison Township firefighter-EMT Robert "Bob" Cree, 72, returned home and suffered an apparent fatal heart attack.

An Indiana firefighter-EMT died Sunday from a heart attack shortly after returning home following an emergency call.

Harrison Township firefighter Robert "Bob" Cree, 72, was part of the response to a medical emergency just after 7 p.m., according to the Supporting Heroes website. When Cree returned home at around 8:10 p.m., he suffered an apparent heart attack.

Harrison Township crews responded to Cree's home and began life-saving measures. But efforts to resuscitate Cree were unsuccessful.

Cree had been with the Harrison Township Volunteer Fire Department in Lucerne for 45 years. He also was a member of the Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Association.

Cree is survived by his wife, Cathy, son, Robert, daughter, Carla, and five grandchildren. A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Gundrum Funeral Home & Crematory in Logansport, according to his obituary. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
