COVID-19 Claims Veteran Philly Firefighter

Philadelphia firefighter John Evans, a 37-year member of the fire department, succumbed to a tough battle with COVID-19 on Feb. 13.

The Philadelphia Fire Department is mourning the loss of a 37-year firefighter who died from COVID-19.

Firefighter John Evans succumbed to a tough battle with COVID at Jefferson Torresdale Hospital on Feb. 13, the department shared.

Evans most recently served as a Fire Boat Pilot with Marine Unit 1.

Philadelphia firefighter Eric Gore died June 2 after "a valiant struggle with COVID-19."

In late June, William "Brad" Blackman, who was based out of Philadelphia's American Medical Response base, died from COVID. The 56-year-old  was also a member of the Swarthmore Fire & Protective Association.

According to NBC Philadelphia, Evans is the 15th city employee to die from COVID-19.
