Nine Firefighters Killed in Brazil Cave Collapse

Officials say the nine firefighters were killed while taking part in a training exercise near the southern Brazilian town of Altinopolis on Sunday.

Nine Brazilian firefighters were killed when a cave collapsed during a training exercise, officials said Sunday.

Ten people were buried under the rubble in the southern Brazilian town of Altinopolis, some 300 kilometres north of Sao Paulo, the fire department of the state's military police tweeted.

Only one person was rescued. A total of 28 people took part in the training exercise.

What caused the accident was not clear.

Sao Paulo state Governor Joao Doria expressed his condolences to the victims' families.
