TX Firefighter Dies after Suffering Medical Emergency

Capt. Wesley Vanderver, 86, with the Sugar Hill VFD in Mount Pleasant suffered a medical emergency at a structure fire and died on Oct. 27.

A Texas volunteer firefighter passed away late last month after suffering a medical emergency at a residential fire.

The U.S. Fire Administration on Thursday announced the line-of-duty death of Capt. Wesley Vanderver, 86, with the Sugar Hill Volunteer Fire Department in Mount Pleasant.

According to USFA, Capt. Vanderver had responded to a residential structure fire on Oct. 27 when he suffered a medical emergency at the scene. Life-saving measure were performed immediately and he was transported to a local hospital where he died a short time later.
