Firefighters in Van Dyne are mourning the loss of a dedicated colleague.
Firefighter/Safety Officer Amie Lee, 61, was working in the fire station on July 1 when she fell and suffered a serious knee injury.
On July 14, she experienced trouble breathing at her home. She was treated and transported to a hospital where she died, according to the U.S. Fire Administration.
A pulmonary embolism related to her knee injury is believed to be a factor in her death.
She had been involved with the department for 13 years.
Her death brings to 47 the number of firefighters who have died on duty this year.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 24 from 5-7 p.m. at Fiss & Bill’s Poklasny funeral home in Oshkosh. A short Celebration of Life service will be held at 7.
