Northwood, NH, Fire Captain Dies after Training Drill

Capt. Christopher Brown, 42, had participated in forcible entry scenarios with Northwood firefighters before he was stricken.

Northwood firefighters are mourning the loss of their captain who died following a training exercise.

On Aug. 19, Capt. Christopher Brown, 42, called an ambulance after experiencing back pains. 

He was transported to a local hospital where his conditions worsened rapidly. Despite life-saving measures, Brown could not be revived, the U.S. Fire Adminstration reported.

On Aug. 18, he participated in forcible entry training at the Northwood Fire Rescue station. 

He had been in the fire service for 24 years.
