Pilots Killed in Helicopter Crash at Wildfire in Yosemite National Park
Two pilots assisting with a wildfire in Yosemite National Park were killed in a helicopter crash.
The Type 1 Super Puma helicopter's crew -- assigned with Price Valley Helitack of Idaho -- was assisting with the Dome Fire. No hotshots were aboard, according to wildfire officials.
The pilots’ identities have not been released, pending official confirmation and notification of their families.
The Dome Fire that started last week is burning in extremely steep, rugged wilderness terrain where helicopters have been providing critical support to firefighters on the ground.
The NTSB is investigating the crash.
