Firefighters from across California came together over the weekend to honor and remember the 36 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while working to protect homes and save lives.
CAL FIRE honored seven of their own at the annual California Fallen Firefighters Memorial ceremony in Sacramento.
The memorial, which was build to honor the lives of California firefighters killed in the line of duty, contains the names of more than 1,500 fallen firefighters. Action News Now reported.
"Every time we come upon a memorial date of a fallen firefighter, that no single firefighter has lost their lives in vain." said Joe Tyler, a fire chief for CAL FIRE. "But it's equally important, related to this memorial, to be able to remember and never forget our fallen firefighters."
