Two Japanese Firefighters Killed Battling Building Blaze in Osaka

The firefighters became trapped on the sixth floor while battling the fire in Osaka's shopping district.

Two Japanese firefighters were killed and others were injured Monday battling a fire in Osaka's Dotonbori shopping district.

The firefighters, 22 and 55, became trapped while battling the fire on the sixth floor, Japan Today reported. 

Three other firefighters and a civlian were taken to a hospital for treatment. 

The fire spread from the building of origin to the fifth and sixth floors of an adjacent structure. 

The cause remains under investigation.
