SUNDANCE, Wyo. (AP) -- Firefighters all but hemmed in a wildfire Thursday that had burned out of control just a day earlier, making it safe for evacuated homeowners to return.

Only an outhouse was lost to the flames, according to Brenda Bowen, spokeswoman for the Great Plains Dispatch Center in Rapid City, S.D.

Full containment was expected Friday. ``The weather cooperated,'' Bowen said. ``They expected a wind event today, which they didn't get and I think that helped them get the line built.''

The number of firefighters at the scene was reduced from 250 to 200.

At 3,200 acres, the Basin Draw Fire had been the worst wildfire in Wyoming's calmest fire season in several years.

It burned through grass and mature forest at the base of Bear Lodge Mountains about five miles from the tiny community of Aladdin near the South Dakota line.

The forecast called for a 40 percent chance of rain and 85 percent humidity in the area Friday.
