REDMESA, Colo. (AP) -- A 1,117-acre wildfire burning on tribal land near Mesa Verde National Park was considered fully contained Wednesday night, a fire information officer said.
The fire on Ute Mountain Ute and Southern Ute land was expected to be under control by Thursday evening, information officer Pam Wilson said.
Crews were beginning to head home.
Gas wells near the fire, which was burning about 1 1/2 miles north of the New Mexico border and about 2 1/2 miles southwest of Redmesa, were no longer threatened, Wilson said.
