PHOENIX (AP) -- A fire burning in the Agua Fria National Monument had charred 1,000 acres by Sunday night.
The blaze, burning 12 miles northeast of Black Canyon City, was 30 percent contained and officials expect full containment by Monday, said Nancy Guerrero, a spokeswoman for the crew fighting the fire.
It was burning near the Tonto National Forest, but no structures were threatened, Guerrero said.
The Perry fire began Sunday morning but the cause is unknown.
Two helicopters, four engines, six air tankers and four water tenders were working the blaze.
